COMMUNICABLE  DISEASES

DISEASE SURVEILLANCE:
Realizing that Surveillance is the foundation for all Public Health Programme, the State Government initiated to strengthen surveillance system since the 6th Plan period . At present one State Epidemiological unit with 8 District Epidemiological Units are functioning for the control of Communicable Diseases in the State.

During the year 1421 Enteric fever cases and 838 Viral Hepatitis cases were reported. Several measures were taken up to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. The following table shows the epidemiological analysis of the diseases for the year 2000-2001.
