Every citizen in Manipur will need a birth or
death certificate at some time or other. This section gives you
information about how registration takes place in Manipur,
where to register and whom to contact.
The
registration of birth and deaths act has been forced throughout the
country to streamline the registration system by giving legal status
of various officials of the registration hierarchy with the
Registrar General, India at the centre and Chief Registrars in
states, running through district registrars to the village and town
registrars at periphery. The Registrar General co-ordinates and
unifies the activities of Chief Registrars relating to matters
connected with the registration of births and deaths. The act
empowers the central government to issue directions to states for
implementing provisions of the act.
The online services for registration of birth
& death is introduced to help the citizen to register
at his doorstep without contacting the respective registration
unit centre.
